Betts Park
Betts Park is an accessible public park in Anerley consisting of 13 acres of woodland and grassland with a small orchard. Facilities include a fenced children’s playground with separate sports area for ball games, open football field, and lawn for picnics. There is a modern outdoor gym at the top end and all-weather tarmac paths for walking and jogging. Features include the last remaining section of the Croydon Canal, trees from the ancient Penge Common and green views to the Addington Hills.
The Park was created in 1928 from land donated to Penge by Frederick Betts and extended by King George’s Fields Memorial Trust in 1939. It is protected from development in perpetuity in Deeds of Dedication held by Fields in Trust. Private owners are welcome to exercise their dogs, but bylaws prohibit commercial dog-walking at this site.
