Chislehurst and Walden Recreation Ground
Chislehurst and Walden Recreation Ground is located behind Chislehurst Library and Red Hill Primary School. It is easily accessible by public transport and parking is available in the library car park. Most of the area is wheelchair and buggy friendly. The ‘rec’ occupies 15 hectacres and is a mixture of ancient woodland and open spaces and we are pleased to be able to report that it provides an environment that attracts a wide range of wildlife, some of which are rare in London.
We have a wonderful play area for children and have recently incorporated some special play facilities for children with disabilities. In 2012 a fitness trail was built for adults and we arrange regular sessions with a trainer to help users maximise their efforts to get fit. It is home to Chislehurst Tennis Club and Elmstead Wood Football Club is well established in the ‘rec’.
The Friends of Chislehurst and Walden Recreation Ground was established in 2010. We are a small voluntary group and work closely with officers from the London Borough of Bromley to further develop the ‘rec’ in its role as a hub of social interaction.

- Enhance the environment of Chislehurst and Walden Recreation Ground to keep it a safe and pleasurable place to visit
- Provide facilities that encourage people of all ages and abilities to come and enjoy themselves
- Interact with local residents and park users to encourage them to voice their opinion on how to keep this facility on track to meet the interests of the community
- To continue to identify potential funding sources to enable further development of facilities
